Encourage Her....
Recently, we've been adding new furniture to her room. She asked for a desk and a chair so she could work on her studies and her art. Of course we said! We even bought a cool lamp that has a magnifying lens.
Two years ago as I was standing in her bio family's home, the kitchen to be exact. I was getting ready to take her to the art store. She'd never been and I had to buy some things for a project. This was before I knew what went on when no one was looking and I was telling her mother that she really should encourage her to draw and paint because she is really good. She has natural talent. I don't have that talent and wow I've always wanted to be able to draw. Her mom just looked at me like, umm, we'll see. I didn't really understand that because any time our children showed interest in something we were all about lessons and whatever it took to help them. Knowing now what I know about them, I get it. Art isn't about who's the fastest or the strongest or most fit. Anyway, naive me just said, you really need to encourage this talent. She's really good and will really benefit from lessons. I have a friend who's a very talented artist and I even said, they should call her and get lessons. They never called.
Fast forward to now. As we are buying art supplies and setting up the desk and lamp and she's creating amazing things, it dawned on me that wow, I'm the mother figure encouraging her to pursue art. Two years ago, I never would have dreamed it would be me and my husband. We are honored to be the ones to help her and guide her and pray for her. She's good really really good. I know you'll see her projects on display someday!
