Polly
Living in the twilight zone can cause a person to have weak moments. Especially when it comes to new pets. We told her she could have a ferret for her birthday. Umm, that was definitely a weak moment. I never in my life thought I'd own a ferret. I don't think I even knew what they looked like. My daughter and I went with her to look at them. She picked the one she liked and I gotta hand it to her, the girl has a knack for choosing sweet animals. We bought all the accessories needed for this creature. Did you know they make a play pen type thing for them, and ferrets sleep in a hammock?
Polly started out living upstairs because I thought well, I won't have to see her and the kids can take care of her. Yeh, I blame those thoughts on the twilight zone. I ended up moving Polly downstairs so she wouldn't feel left out. Yes, I realize we're talking about a ferret but I felt sad for her up there by herself. I have to say that Polly added a light humor to our home when we needed it. She's quite funny. One day my oldest son was looking for his shoes. He found one but where was the other one? I mean you don't just lose one shoe... If you know me, you know it freaks me out to see one lost shoe on the side of the road. That's a whole other blog. Back to the lost shoe, we had no idea where it could have gone. We saw Polly dragging my running shoe down the hall to my room. What in the world? We noticed she had a pile of shoes in the corner. And, we found the missing shoe. What a hoot. She is small and funny and she just wants to be accepted by the dogs in the morning for breakfast. Polly is the bane of the shitzu's existence, the puggle could really careless, and the cat occasionally goes after her but not really.
So, I love that we were able to laugh at the hot mess our house was now with two dogs, a fat orange cat and a ferret named Polly, two 16 year olds, a 19 year old, and a daughter who's wedding was weeks away! We were in a good place and looking forward to the fall. We were hopeful!
