New Friends

As the cross country season wrapped up, we had our end of the season banquet. People noticed the coach wasn't there as she had been suspened while the school did an investigation. One of the mom's who had a senior on the team that year noticed she wasn't there. She was so funny because my husband I were not making any waves about this as it's really not our style to do so. But this mom kept asking, where is coach? We were like well, I'm not sure. I think she had told everyone that her grandfather was sick and she was in Arizona. Well, she wasn't. She was suspended. We finally filled this mom in with what was going on. Of course you can imagine she was upset but she wasn't entirely surprised that this coach was in trouble. She had been on trips with her before and she had seen the side of her that wasn't very nice. God sent us our first sand bar. She has been a rock for us since the beginning. And I often feel bad when I call or text to talk about this situation because Lord knows there is so much more in this world to talk about. But God sent us one of the most faithful, trusting savage women out there! And we are forever grateful for her.

We agreed to letting the girl move in and we told her to take everything that was important to her. Her mom and dad kept her phone as they had taken it weeks prior. So she moved out at 15 years old into our home with three hefty bags filled with clothes, some keepsakes and a shower bag. Ok God, we got her. Now what? My husbands company at the time, the one he worked for over 10 years was doing some restructuring. It would be pretty great to get a good severance as we had to finish paying for college and we had the wedding coming up and now we have a 4th child.  The company did eliminate the position my husband had and we got a really good severance. Thank God!

The child we just took in needed a shoulder surgery. Her dad was supposed to take her to pre op several weeks prior while she still lived with him but he never did it. We did it. She was a competitive swimmer and had years worth of shoulder damage. Christmas was here and she was recovering. We were all trying to settling in. That Christmas break didn't pass without some comical errors. We had to have 911 come to the house because the pain pump she had was not working right and she was having a reaction. I rode down in the ambulance with her and my husband had to come to the hospital on his way home from seeing his dad. They got her all situated and it was time to go home and I got up to leave an passed out. So, by the time my husband had gone to get the car and come back in I was in a room being evaluated. I was fine. Just a little overwhelmed. And to think that was only the beginning.
