God's Plan
Funny how things happen and we don't know how they will affect our lives until one day you go OMG! That OMG! may not happen for years, which is exactly how it played out in our lives.
We live in the Deep South. Football is a religion down here, well not really a religion but you know what I mean. It is huge and it's a lifestyle and most boys grow up playing football or at least going out for it at some point in their young lives. My boy, my youngest was no different. He loved playing football. So when 7th grade rolled around and the boys could play for their school, he went out. There were a lot of kids on the team and they play to win. Needless to say, my precious boy wasn't getting a lot of playing time. At that age, some boys are giants and some haven't had much growth yet. Mine was the latter. So, one day I noticed he was not so interested in football anymore. My husband and I felt like he needed to do something to keep him busy and out of trouble. He quit football on Wednesday and I called the cross country coach to see if he could join the team. She said, "Absolutely there's a meet on Saturday". I said, "Great, he'll be there." My dad was coming in for a college game that weekend but we had friends that would take him. He ran, he loved it or at least didn't die so there you go. A runner was born! He continued on with cross country and track and field. Thank you God for helping me find a sport this boy loves and he's pretty good at! Thank you thank you thank you! I said that as I drove to work one morning.
My husband and I support our kids with whatever they're doing. We never expect them to be the best but we do expect them to do their best. Our kids have pretty much done it all. The girl child danced and twirled the baton, she did the cheernastics, is that even a thing anymore? We loved watching her do whatever she was interested in at the time. One boy child played youth football and baseball, and then he thought he'd go out for golf. Great! Do it. Do it all, make friends, but most of all have fun. That's a little background on how we handled sports, and activities at our house. We just wanted them involved to be busy. Not for us but for them. Not to be the best ever but to learn new skills and to learn how to work as a team. And let's be honest, there's some good swag that goes with all the spirit pack stuff. I'm a sucker for lots of gear! We have sweatshirts and t-shirts coming out our ear's.
So friends this is the beginning. Soon, you'll see God's plan in action, well it was already in action, we just didn't know it. Our God most certainly works in mysterious ways. He is always faithful and He is always good!
When it is all finished, you will discover it was never random
